to be his
fall of 2010, they both attended the same university…he was on the track team and she was a cheerleader. they had mutual friends and it was a small university, the kind of university that everyone knew just about everyone. about two years in, over social media, conversation started and they started to get to know one another. Valentine’s Day, 2012; he wrote her a poem, asking her to be his. from that moment on, they were inseparable. after graduation, they moved to a city near by, she wanted to pursue her dreams of a master’s degree and he went on to get a job as a personal trainer.
Easter 2015, he was having a family BBQ and invited her parents and her. if you ask her she would say it was “fate” that her parents and his parents, ironically only lived 45 minutes away from one another. when they arrived and she started walking towards the crowd, he met her half-way with his family following close behind him. he grabbed her hand and started telling her how much he loved and cared about her. in the background the song “Marry Me” by Train was playing he dropped to one knee, held out a beautiful ring, and asked her to marry him. The moment was so beautiful. After a load of emotional hugs, their families formed a circle with glasses in hand and before the toast, their parents each took a turn saying something special. it was a day she will never forget, a day that she would call him her forever.
