Halloween used to be something that was non-existant in my youth and pretty much up until we had children! It never really seemed that fun and it was always more fun just passing out candy and scaring little people that came to my parents door. I can remember one year, literally putting on a mask and sitting on the couch with only my head showing and just moving it back and forth, kinda like a bodiless something or another, another year my mom was a 10th grade English teacher and well she was a good one, every year like clock work, on Halloween, we had our house egged. The perks of living in a small town, where everyone knows where everyone lives. Yeah, no bueno.

So 3 facts about Hallo-weening with Simon party of FIVE!!

1. It wasn’t until we had our twins that Clinton and I really started participating in couples costumes, I know many people do not celebrate Halloween because of religious reasons, no bashing that, but honestly, growing up with those same views.. I am a total believer, that Halloween is what you make of it, it can be pure, innocent fun and also a time of showing Christ in the biggest ways…Don’t believe me..Look up Jimmy Needham..he rocked Halloween lovin’!

2. This year, we were Mickey and Minnie Mouse, making a tutu is no joke, with help from the hubby, we were able to put it together in about 1.5 hours, but it really puts the extra detail of awesome in the Minnie costume! Also, waiting the day before trying to find red shorts (in October) for the Mickey costume is not something I advise, it was way stressful and I am so thankful Clinton took it upon himself to go out and look for them the day of Halloween and was able to find some. $6 dollar shorts from Bealls is legit!

3. Trunk or Treating with the kids and then attending an adult costume party, is the way to go! It allows for the kids to have some fun that is nice and safe (not so stressful for the parents) and it also allows for some adulting time done right.

p.s.

This year, we did not go trick or treating, we hit up some fall festivals and trunk or treating and then the hubby and the kids spent time having a recovery day and well I worked a little and then had a much needed girls day. I passed out a bit of candy, giving one piece to those not dressed up and 2-4 pieces to those who had, yes, I judged on effort!!
